All of us at Riding wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! Thank you to all of these ladies for sending in photos. We’ll be asking for Father’s Day submissions soon! Watch our Facebook page for updates.

Here is my daughter Tristan and myself at a horse show last May. I prep her horse Excaliber for her in a few classes before she shows him. This is at the Paso Robles Horse Park. He had a great show and won the Hunter Derby that day. We laughed because we certainly look likes twins! -Jeannine Compton

Sophie Lee was born on 10/27/17. She rode horses all the time before she was born, including her mom’s trainer’s Olympic mount! Sophie has been going to the barn since she was just a few days old, and now smiles at and eagerly reaches out to pet the horses. She has also proven to be an amazingly perfect horse show baby. -Sophie Lee Kessler, Jennifer Kessler, San Diego.

My mom has been my rock and my biggest supporter of my riding career. Bear, my horse, just recently came off of lay-up for a year and is now beginning his training again. My mom stood by my side through the 4 month diagnosis, daily hand walking, and constant baths. And as we re-enter him into his training, she continues to be there for me with a bright image of the future in her mind. Thank you mom for always being the person that I can look to. I am so greatful that I get to take you on this life-long horse journey with me. You are my rock, my biggest supporter, and my best friend. I love you so much mom!

This is my favorite horse picture of my mom, Valerie Macmillan, and I. We were buddies in life and when it came to all things Horse related. She has since passed away since the photo but lives on in all my horse endeavors. Photo at Brookside with my horse Arts Debonair. -Crystal Toogood

This is my mom Linda and me back in 1976. I think I started begging for a pony as soon as I could speak. My mom finally relented when I turned 8 thanks to a friend of hers with horses. It wasn’t easy for her - we had to live with my grandparents for many years in order to be able to afford to care for the pony. This is me, my first pony Chatty, and my mom Linda the day we brought Chatty home. Forty two years later, I’m still riding thanks to mom’s sacrifice. -Wendy Malek
