Book your Horsey trip away for a fun filled weekend of equine learning, shopping and entertainment!
The Mane Event will take place in Scottsdale May 26-28, 2017 at the world-class facility, WestWorld of Scottsdale. This venue allows the all-equine based trade show, an arena, the lecture/demonstration area and the Round Pen to be under one air-conditioned roof. While we do have one arena outside it is also under a roof and we will have fans or misters to help keep all attendees cool. Horse owners and enthusiasts are in for a treat at this very diversified horse expo. The Mane Event is very proud of their commitment to providing the very best equine related education, shopping and entertainment all at one location.
Mini-clinics presented over the 3 days of the expo are from some of the best equine educators and clinicians available in a variety of disciplines including Bernie Traurig - Jumping, Nicholas Fyffe - Dressage, Craig Schmersal - Reining, Storme Camarillo - Barrel Racing, Garn Walker - Cowboy Dressage and, of course, a variety of horsemanship methods from Pat Parelli, Warwick Schiller, Steve Rother, Robert Eversole, Kalley Krickeberg & Mary Kitzmiller.
The attendees will also be enlightened by a variety of presenters in the lecture area on saddle fitting, nutrition, equine health, and much more.
The “Educational Colt Starting Challenge” is a bit different than some you might have seen at other venues. The Scottsdale event will feature Clayton Edsall – California, Trey Young - Florida & Brendon Clark – California, some very talented trainers that will put their skills to work one at a time with the colts supplied by K4 Ranch Quarter Horses from Prescott, AZ. The goal of the Mane Event is to have everyone learn including the trainers. A unique feature in the judging is that 30% of the marks the trainers receive is based on how they educate the attendees and judges on their method of training and why it is good for the horse. The horses will learn from the trainers and their different methods of training. Last but not least, the attendees will be exposed to some excellent training methods on how the training is done on a new colt to better understand how the process is done. Of course attendees are reminded to keep in mind that starting a colt under saddle is normally a 60-90 day program depending on the horse.
We have not forgotten the upcoming young horse owners and riders -- 4H, FFA, Pony Clubs and riding clubs! We have a special Youth Lecture Area where clinicians will do presentations to our younger riders and get them excited about learning new things. As well, there is a Youth Pro-Am Competition, sponsored by “Back On Track”, which will have youth riders with their horses compete in a team with a clinician in a timed trail obstacle course. This is something you will only see at The Mane Event. Applications are available on the Mane Event website and is limited to youth riders only.
What would a horse expo be without SHOPPING!! In the trade show, there is a diverse group of vendors from across the USA and Canada with only equine products and services, western clothing and equine décor products and home furnishings for horse owners and enthusiasts.
After you have shopped for you and your horse, and learned from some of the very best in the equine world today, it’s time to relax and enjoy some great entertainment in the “Equine Experience”. You are in for a real treat as some of our clinicians and trainers will perform including Steve Rother; Warwick Schiller and Kalley Krickeberg and a crowd favorite at every Mane Event – the Tiny Trio featuring: Spanky, Dally and Jet. Spanky and Jet are miniature horses who were rescued by Rother Horsemanship when they were just 2 years old, their sidekick Dally, is a 7 year-old Jack Russell Terrier. Dally and Spanky have been on the iconic David Letterman Show; featured on the National Geographic channel; won at the World Dog Awards in Hollywood and are the next Breyer horse model. They have performed across the US and Canada, including the prestigious Washington DC International Horse show. They are internet sensations with over 20 million youtube views, and a book of their incredible true story has just been published. This tiny trio show us what can be achieved when we overcome challenges and work together. The Equine Experience will also showcase, drill teams, liberty demos and will be followed immediately by “Gladius the Show” from Las Vegas. Gladius The Show is an acrobatic equestrian production created by Erik Martonovich and Alethea Shelton, two of the original cast members of the international touring sensation, Cavalia. After decades of competitive vaulting, they started creating new acts to take to the road, incorporating aerialists, fire, and Roman riding. Audiences can expect the unexpected! “Gladius” is a unique blend of stunning horses with talented humans that has something for everyone! Over half of the acts in the show are completely original, and from the heart and minds of this creative team.
