Written by Administrator
Thursday, 03 November 2016 19:42

The majority of horses will need joint support at some point in their lives, and heavily worked horses are virtually guaranteed to need support even earlier. However, with all the joint supplement options available it's difficult to make a choice.  As a general guide, upper level athletes and horses working on hard ground or over difficult terrain are good candidates for a more extensive approach to joint support.  Any horse known to be prone to joint issues or one that does not respond to the basic joint nutrients should also take a more targeted approach.

Summer is officially here, and riding season is in full swing. We all love spending in the barn, but as the mercury rises you should begin to monitor your horse’s water intake more than ever.

We are all aware that horses need water to survive, but the amount may surprise you. According to Helene McKernan, a research assistant at Penn State University, an average horse requires 5 to 10 gallons of water each day. This number rises, however, with the temperature and humidity.

Schleese Truck and Trailer Stolen
Written by CRM
Thursday, 01 October 2015 18:45

At the beginning of September the Schleese truck and trailer were stolen off the parking lot of the Radisson Hotel in Niagara Falls Canada. Both vehicles were visibly wrapped and logoed, which made the theft even more unbelievable. The Schleese team was returning from a show in Virginia, which meant that luckily only seven saddles were left in inventory, however, the fact that the vehicles were allegedly stolen and taken to a local reservation to strip for parts meant that we were not given much hope that anything would be returned and everything would need to be replaced.

We all like to think of the barn as a place to unwind and relax, but did you know that there may be a hidden danger to you lurking in your horse’s stall?

When you open the stall door, pitchfork in hand, are you hit with an acrid burning of the nose, lungs and throat? That my friend, is the signature trademark of ammonia.

Clear Water Tabs
Written by Press Release
Monday, 03 August 2015 23:22
Clear Water Troughs is a new company that has a product which will reduce cleaning duties for your horses’ water troughs. Our tablet will slow the growth of algae (which turns your trough and water green) keeping your trough cleaner, longer.
  1. Are the clear water tabs safe for my horses?  Yes Clear water tabs are even safe for human consumption.
  2. Does it work?  Yes, Clear water tabs actually work.  If you don’t believe us just drop one tablet into your trough and wait.  Within 24-48 hour all the algae will die and sink to the bottom of your trough. If your trough has an excessive build up of algae you may need to put a second tablet in to see the best results.
  3. How long does it take to start working?  Within 24-48 hours in a dirty trough.  However, we recommend that you first clean your trough and then start using the tablets so your trough will remain clean.
  4. How long does 1 tablet last?  Usually 1 tablet will last between 3-5 days depending on the time of year and how frequently you top off the water.  During spring and summer months you may have to use the tablets more frequently due to longer days and more sun.
  5. Do you still have to clean the troughs?  We recommend that you change the water and spray out your troughs every 3-6 weeks depending on how frequently you use the clear water tablets.  The tablets will keep algae out of your troughs but the dirt and food from the horse’s mouth will need to be washed out.  You will not have to scrub your troughs, only rinse them out and put knew water in them.
  6. Does the tablets give the water an odor that will keep the horses from drinking?  No.  The tablet has the precise amount of sodium and chlorine that keeps the algae from growing but has no odor which will prevent your horse from drinking.
Find more information on these amazing tablets at www.clearwatertroughs.com.
