This month we celebrate our 30th year publishing our monthly magazine, which started out as San Diego County Riding Magazine. I am very blessed to have had such an awesome opportunity to serve the California horse industry and appreciate everyone who has supported my efforts to deliver all of you our monthly horse related news.

Part of the reason we’ve stayed in the game for 30 years is that we’re always pushing to get better. This past year, I hope you’ve noticed an increase in coverage from the hunter/jumper, dressage and eventing worlds, plus articles of interest and concern to the general horse-owning public. This issue’s interview with The Perfect Horse author Elizabeth Letts is a “perfect” example from the latter category!

We are especially pleased about our monthly columns by respected stakeholders in each discipline: Karen Healey with her Candid With Karen hunter/jumper column; Michele and Genay Vaughn with Dressage Life and Olympic eventer Lauren Billys with her Eye On Eventing.

Happy to say we are getting an increasing amount of feedback on our editorial content. Almost all is positive, but we welcome constructive criticism, too. It helps us improve! One trainer was unhappy with who we’d included in a recent show report. We made note of the complaint and will continue to do our best in selecting the right people to highlight, and it’s an area where you, our readers, can really help us. Do you have a student who exemplifies great sportsmanship and horsemanship, whether they’re a big winner or not? Let us know. Our Winner’s Circle column is a great place to acknowledge them and our team appreciates the input. Although we want to be at every event and to get to know all our readers, it’s not humanly possible!

We wish you all a wonderful Holiday season and look forward to serving you in the years to come.

Happy Riding!

ADOPT ME:

Royal Brigade is a gorgeous registered Saddlebred gelding up for adoption at FalconRidge Equine Rescue in Valley Center.

He stands 16 hands tall and is 11 years old. He was bought from a breeder and privately owned. Greenbroke only, but he did walk, trot and canter without any problems so this pretty boy just needs additional training or an experienced rider and would love to bond with his human for life! Very cute boy.

Adoption fee $500. Contact Nicki Branch at www.falconridgerescue.org, 760-742-0285
