Pestanas Relocate

Top Hat and Tails Equestrian Center is relocating to the Fairmont Riding Club in the East Bay Area’s Pleasanton. That’s Nadine and Jamie Pestana’s top flight dressage program. The facility has a large indoor arena, two outdoor arenas (one of which will be a dressage court), turn-outs, a Eurosizer, and 70-plus acres of trails.

French, Gardner, Bragg & Glynn Rock Hunter Ranks in D.C.

California rider and trainer John French punctuated his early October week at the Capital Challenge in Washington, D.C., presented by World Equestrian Center, with an exclamation point when he topped a star-studded field in the $5,000 World Champion Hunter Rider Professional Finals. French led from start to finish to win his fourth WCHR Pro Finals title. He also concluded the year as the WCHR Professional National Champion.

Time is flying. From late-September’s USET Talent Search Finals West to late-October’s Del Mar International, it’s been an action-packed start to end-of-the-year finales in the equestrian world. Dressage’s USDF Region 7/CDS Championships and the Area VI eventing championships are a few more of the big shows we’ve covered in this issue, along with the Longines LA Masters and Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping in Sacramento and Del Mar.

USHJA Annual Meeting in Palm Springs offers opportunity to affect change in the sport.

The annual United States Hunter Jumper Association convention comes to Palm Springs Dec. 11-15 and I look forward to seeing a lot of friends from around the country. I hope, too, that West Coasters will take advantage of the convention’s proximity and continue or begin getting involved in the governance of our sport.

 
November 2016 - Dressage Life: Friends, Thanks and Riding

Ascent in the sport is supported and enhanced by friendship.

Throughout my riding career I have met many friends and acquaintances along the way. I have been lucky enough to find my best friend, Ayden Uhlir, through riding and I thought this month, the month of Thanksgiving, would be the perfect time to talk about friendships.
