Pacific Indoor EventingThe Pacific Indoor Eventing Series got off to a great start Oct. 11 in Sycamore Stables' big covered arena in San Juan Capistrano. The day saw 220 jumping rounds completed, by eventers and hunter/jumper riders, from Sycamore and surrounding stables and a great time was had by all.

A large section of an 1845 Spanish Land Grant made by Governor Pio Pico to an Indian named Maria Juana de Los Angeles, is now on the market. It is located in San Diego County's Pauma Valley. The 605 acres of beautiful oak-covered rolling hills south of Palomar Mountain is part of the original 2,174-acre Rancho Cuca de el Potrero.

Sonoma Horse Park will conclude its fifth season with the $20,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby presented by Devoucoux. The competition will take place on Friday, Sept. 19, during the SHP Season Finale, which has been upgraded to an AA rating.

andalusian world cupInsiders anticipate new competition may be the biggest of its kind in the country. The inaugural Feria del Caballo Español National Show and Andalusian World Cup, widely predicted to be the largest Iberian Horse Show of its kind in the country, kicks off Sept. 25 in Las Vegas at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center.

The show, to be held Sept. 25-27, combines multiple Iberian horse show divisions at one venue, and is expected to be the largest Iberian horse show in the world outside of Spain and Portugal. According to the show's organizers, entries have exceeded initial targets and a wide variety of sponsors have joined in the opportunity to be a part of this exciting new event.

 
HiCaliber Help Wanted - Escondido Rescue Needs New Home

Michelle Cochran, who founded HiCaliber Horse Rescue in 2002, must find a home for over 50 horses in various stages of rescue and rehabilitation. For nearly six years, HCHR has been nestled in the eucalyptus grove at the base of the Deer Park Monastery in Escondido; a safe haven for abused, starved, abandoned and homeless horses. The Monastery has told Cochran that the horses must be off of their land within 90 days.

September 6th & 7th marks the return of the Pacific Sporthorse Selection to the Christiane Noelting Dressage Center in Vacaville, CA. This will be the third year that the innovative sport horse auction, fundraiser, and educational event is held.

This year, the collection of elite dressage horses and hunter/jumpers will be joined by several quality event prospects. The group includes recently started young horses as well as proven competition horses. Many of the horses have been imported from Europe especially for the auction.
