April 2017 - Help A Horse Day

California equine charities are among past winners and participants in ASPCA’s annual awareness event April 21-26.

The fifth annual ASPCA Help a Horse Day is set for Wed, April 26, with events taking place throughout the country from April 21-26. Organizations planning to celebrate with a Help a Horse Day event, meeting the ASPCA’s criteria and taking place within that timeframe, may be eligible to win one of 11 grant prizes totaling $100,000 for best celebration efforts to be used to support general operations.

 
April 2017 - USA Equestrian Trust

Applications for 2017 grants for equine non-profits are due May 1.

USA Equestrian Trust is now accepting proposals from IRS-registered equine non-profit organizations for its 2017 grants program. Funding available for USA Equestrian Trust grants includes $36,500 reserved for hunter and jumper non-profit programs and activities in California and Nevada. Applicants for this fund should make clear their intention to apply for grants available from this specific reserve.

 
March 2017 - The Gallop: World Cup Week at HITS Coachella

Ashlee Bond earns an unexpected victory, with fellow young stars hot on her heels.

Hometown favorites and young riders were the Grand Prix ring stars of World Cup Week at HITS Coachella. Ashlee Bond bounced back from the birth of her daughter Scottie four months ago to win the Longines FEI World Cup™ class aboard Chela LS. Chela had bounced back from her own big health issue: staph infections in both hocks about 18 months ago, so Ashlee was understandably swimming in delighted emotions over the win.

 
April 2017 - Porter Power!

Mandy Porter & Milano close out the HITS Coachella circuit with the AIG Million win.

Dynamite equestrian Mandy Porter of Encinitas rose to the occasion against a top-notch field of 54 riders in the most popular AIG $1 Million Grand Prix class to date. Porter rode Milano, owned by Abigail Weese, to a thrilling finish as the second-to-last rider in a six-horse jump-off. The starting order included several prior victors of the AIG $1 Million Grand Prix at HITS Desert Horse Park including 2016, 2015 and 2014 winners: McLain Ward, Charlie Jayne and Ashlee Bond.

 
April 2017 - Go For The Grants!

USHJA Emerging Athlete and Trainer Certification program grant application deadlines approaching.

The United States Hunter Jumper Association offers more than $90,000 in grants to USHJA members this year, including USHJA program grants available for the first time in all 12 USHJA zones.

“We recognize that our members work hard to achieve their goals, and we hope these grants help our members get the most out of these valuable educational programs,” said Kevin Price, USHJA executive director.
