George Williams coming to Los Angeles in October for USDF Jr/YR Clinic: Sept. 8 deadline for rider apps!

The United States Dressage Federation’s Jr/YR Clinic Series is an educational opportunity for young riders striving to compete at FEI levels. It comes to The Paddock in Los Angeles and USDF Region 7 with the Oct. 21-22 session with George Williams. The current president of the USDF, George is known for his success representing Team USA, as a top trainer with his wife Roberta and their daughter, Noel, and as a highly in-demand clinician.

The goal of this series is to promote hardworking, talented youth riders who want to rise to the top of the discipline. Along with George, these clinics are taught by top U.S. riders including Charlotte Bredahl-Baker, Anne Gribbons, and Jeremy Steinberg.

Each clinic includes two days of private lessons, theory sessions, and auditing. Riders must submit an online application and eight riders will be selected to participate. Riders must be 14-21 years of age. Riders ages 12-14 competing in FEI Pony classes may also apply. Auditors of all ages are welcome. The application deadline to participate as a rider is Sept. 8, and the deadline for online auditor registration, with discounted rates, is Oct. 6. Day-off registration is available, too.

Riders must have a USDF Youth Participating or Life Membership. They must also have a USEF Active Competing Junior, Senior, or Life Membership.

To apply as a rider, hopefuls must submit an online application, riding video, and $25 application fee on or before the deadline. The video must show the applicant riding a complete dressage test, on the specific horse he or she applied with. Riders who have declared as an FEI Junior, Young Rider, or Pony Rider should ride the appropriate Team test. Videos should be recorded from the end of the arena at A or C and the rider must not be too far away from the camera. If the selection committee cannot clearly see the horse and rider, the video will not be accepted. Do not submit a cell phone video.

Funding for this program is made possible with funding from The Dressage Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation. USDF could not provide many of its programs without this type of generosity.
