Deborah Day lives and breathes horses and that fact is reflected in her growing body of work as an artist. She grew up in a rural part of Southern California where her enthusiasm for horses and art flourished. Her artistic and equine careers started at the age of 5 when she began riding lessons. Painting lessons soon followed.

During high school Deborah studied painting in the traditional style under a local artist. Soon after she began to receive commissions that helped her to expand and develop her skills. She furthered her education at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, where she graduated with honors with a major in art and a minor in animal science.
This year, Deborah is enjoying working in a new studio at her home ranch, Rockin D Ranch in San Bernadino County’s Bloomington. Attending a workshop with bronze artist Jack Walker augmented her renewed enthusiasm for this medium. “I hope to have some pieces finished by year’s end,” she says. At presstime, she was headed to another workshop, this time in Wyoming, where she continued ongoing efforts to renew her skills.
Deborah works in a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, pencil, bronze, and clay. Being an avid color enthusiast, Deborah considers herself primarily a painter and most enjoys working on a relatively large scale. Her commissions have come from all parts of the country and have ranged from murals to horse portraits. Inspiration for her own work primarily comes from the horses of various colors and breeds that live out back by the studio. Deborah seeks to express her love for horses through art.
