Peggy Fackrell Stages Hunter/Jumper Shows
With a Fun Twist

Let’s Show is a hunter/jumper show management company run by Peggy Fackrell of Sacramento. After a lifetime of being a trainer, teacher, attending shows and officiating at shows, Peggy decided to try to produce shows of her own that were different. She felt there was a need to get away from the many cookie cutter events that were being offered.
She’s grown her business into six B-rated hunter/jumper events a year. They are all in Zone 10, which encompasses the area in and around Sacramento, extending all the way to Elko, Nevada. One of the highlights of Peggy’s show is her weeklong Halloween show featuring 300 horses and 1,000 attendees at Rancho Murietta. In the spirit of the season, the event was comprised of multiple contests including barn decorating, dog costumes, mounted costumes and more.
Other unique events include the “Jump for a Jump” class. The winner of the two-round event wins one entire jump. All contestants can also compete as a team and the winning team with the highest points at the end of the show wins a complete set of six jumps with flower boxes and all the trimmings.
Peggy included two memorial equitation classes in honor of past friends. The Caroline Day class is in memory of a local horsewoman. The winner gets their name added to a giant bronze trophy that is kept at the Sonoma Valley Stables where Caroline rode, in addition to a smaller trophy to take home as well as a cooler, an iPod and a silver picture frame. The other special class is to honor Bitsy Shields, and this class is just for the pony kids. It’s a four-phase contest and the kids all do a written test, flat class test, gymnastic class and an over fence phase. The top competitor in this class received a boombox, cooler and a trophy. The prize for the overall champion of the short, medium and long stirrup classes was a new hunt coat donated by Jake’s Place.
The classes are fun and competitive and the prizes are creative and unique. For example, Peggy purchased 10 original pieces of equine artwork from an artist in Colorado, which she awarded to the top 10 finishers overall, in additional to custom saddle covers. There’s some serious money opportunity at these events as well. The Halloween show had a $6,000 jumper class, a $1,000 amateur class and several $500 classes. But it’s not all riding. On Saturday night there was a sit-down dinner and a live band. The Friday night festivities included a buffet dinner.
The other Let’s Show events include a show in March, which is the only hunter/jumper event at RamTap, a locale known for its three-day eventing. In June, Peggy hosts a beach party horse show at Leone Equestrian in Sacramento. “Everyone spends the weekend in Hawaiian shirts and leis, it’s really fun and festive,” say Peggy. In September, her show calls Elko, Nevada home. Attendees and competitors come from Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Oregon and California and, in addition to the event, they enjoy the leisure activities of the area. Participants can gamble, play golf and hike the Ruby Mountains. And when it’s time to compete, classes are held in a smart indoor arena complete with grandstand and restaurant.
When she’s not hosting her own shows, Peggy can be found judging at other events. So keep your eyes open for a Let’s Show event, where you’ll be sure to find a quality show, wrapped up in a festive and fun atmosphere.
