W Farms
Spring breathes new life into W Farms as the Wilsons open a new facility.

The arrival of spring should be a time of celebration for all horse enthusiasts. As we witness the beauty of flowers and trees in bloom, we are reminded of the joys of renewal and rebirth. This is certainly true for David and Alisa Wilson, who last month celebrated the opening of W Farms, their new, state of the art boarding and training facility located in Chino Hills.
Stepping onto the property, one feels as though they have entered an oasis. With ducks splashing in the natural creek, horses nibbling in their grass turnouts and baskets of fresh carrots at the entrance of each barn row, it is difficult to believe that such a quiet niche can exist in the hustle and bustle of a busy city. Orange County is only 30 minutes away and Los Angeles only 45 from Chino Hills. Two-thirds of Wilson’s clientele hail from those areas.

There is a refreshing sense of excitement in the voices of both David and Alisa, and a visit to the facility can explain why. The 45 box stall property, built by Burke Home and Equestrian Renovation, boasts some of the finest amenities an equestrian facility can offer. There is an Olympic-sized, lighted dressage court, as well as a jumping arena and an additional arena for general use. All three arenas have Triple Crown footing, a maximum performance footing blend designed by Ron Johnson. This superior footing dries in as little as 24 hours after heavy rain.
Horses may relax in one of three timothy grass pastures, while clients can do likewise in the spacious lounge, which, complete with a plasma screen television and observation windows, conveniently faces the long side of the dressage court. The property also includes personal client locker rooms, several spacious tack rooms, a hotwalker and a 60 foot lunge pen with viewing deck, among other amenities.
David Wilson is no stranger to running a facility. From 1992 to 2003 he was the sole trainer of Cinema Farms, a 125 horse boarding, training, and breeding facility in Riverside. Wilson’s career accomplishments are lengthy. He is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist. He was the USET Intermediate I Reserve Champion in 1997, and has won numerous regional and state championships including the 2004 CDS Horse of the Year Grand Prix Championship on World in Motion, his Hanoverian gelding which he hand selected from the elite PSI Auction in Hagen, Germany in 1998.
In addition to World in Motion, Wilson has successfully trained over 30 horses to Grand Prix, and has trained many successful open, amateur and young riders. David also founded and operated RHPSI, an international breed registry and W Videography, a show video company that is now operated by his mother, Nancy Wilson. His wife Alisa, an internationally respected Grand Prix rider, also brings a wealth of business experience to W Farms. For four years she has handled public relations and marketing for Marnell Corrao Associates and just recently founded AWA Insurance Agency. She also oversees two non-profit agencies: the Marnell Foundation and the Tuscany Research Institute, as well as manages the administrative side of W Farms and W Sales International. W Sales is a division of W Farms which handles consignment and sales, both state side and abroad.
W Farms has always prided itself on being the ultimate full care facility. As parents of three young children, the Wilsons understand firsthand the challenge of balancing busy schedules in order to devote time to their passion. This is why W Farms makes a great effort to care for every aspect of their client’s needs, from supervising farrier and veterinary appointments, to trailering, managing show entries and providing full show care, to organizing sales trips and overseeing domestic sales. W Farms employees live on the grounds, enabling 24-hour care and should the unforeseeable medical emergency arise, Chino Valley Equine, one of the West Coast’s finest hospitals is relocating down the street from W Farms.
David Wilson expands on the full care concept. “Our goal at W Farms is to make each client’s experience a personal success, from start to finish.” Wilson stressed that W Farms has something to offer to every rider, from those seeking a pleasurable hobby to those aiming to be competitive at the highest level. Alisa Wilson adds, “We are committed to providing our clients with results beyond their expectations on a daily basis.”
W Farms already has much to look forward to. Internationally renowned hunter-jumper trainers Ronnie and Colleen Freeman and their clientele recently moved to the Chino Hills facility, and David and Alisa have plans to build a cover over the dressage court in the near future. There is a pleasant sense of optimism in the air at W Farms. “This has been our dream for a very long time, and we are so excited to be able to share this with other riders now,” Alisa explains. If this was the Wilson’s goal, it is clear that they have been successful. The farm certainly looks like a dream come true.
