AR3J Ranch is New Home
for Pacific Dressage

Claudia Roberts and Christy Monfort
make learning fun.

Pacific Dressage’s head trainer Claudia Roberts and assistant trainer Christy Monfort are uniquely qualified to offer the best of the riding experiences.  They bring many years of working with horses and the people who ride them.
Claudia’s training and background in clinical psychology enable her to help students overcome some of the obstacles many amateurs face, such as fear or a lack of confidence.  Pacific Dressage’s diverse training allows both the serious competitor and the weekend trail rider to meet their goals.  Many of the activities are presented in a group format to encourage everyone to enjoy the pleasure of riding and/or competing.

It is not unusual to come upon a group of laughing ladies trying to master that quadrille and stay out of each other’s way and still get to where they are supposed to be. This is learning of the best kind.  This kind of format teaches the accuracy needed to be competitive at dressage in an enjoyable way.
There are many opportunities to be with friends both two and four legged at Pacific Dressage. Clinics are offered on a wide spectrum of subjects from horse gentling, preparation for and riding in shows, acupuncture and chiropractic sessions, people and horse fitness, saddle fitting and other topics.
The Pacific Dressage team encourages cross training in other disciplines, such as vaulting.  They find that this offers the adult rider an opportunity to find their balance and relearn how to use the proper muscles in the stomach and thighs to help build tone without tension in the right places for riding dressage. Vaulting also helps build confidence for riding.  Pacific Dressage encourages kids and adults up into their 60s to utilize vaulting as another fun way to enjoy being with their horses while learning.

Competitive Milestones
Claudia and Christy have had tremendous success with their sensitivity to the needs of their clients.  But the greatest milestones for both involve the achievements in their work with the horses. Claudia’s progress with Linda Macon’s horse Augustlohe, her USDF Bronze Medal, and her determined pursuit of a Silver Medal, attest to her training and competitive success.
She rode Augustlohe to fourth in the USDF’s national Trakehner breed standings at Second Level, and the pair is currently showing Prix St. Georges.  She is also enjoying her success at Second Level with the Arabian/Dutch-cross mare, Margeaux, who was purchased in 2003 as a 3-year-old.  Claudia is also an “L” graduate of the USDF judges program.  Christy enjoys her own Mustang-cross equine buddy, Remington, and takes great pride in his accomplishments and progress. Currently training Second and Third levels, they enjoy quadrille performances as well as weekly trail rides.
With an average of 20 horses in training at one time, Claudia embraces a broad spectrum of experience levels in her clientele. “I teach everyone equally, whether they have competitive ambitions or are pursuing dressage for fun,” she says.
“Our main goal is to challenge our clients, and make it interesting and fun regardless of their ambitions.  It’s all about the basics,” Claudia emphasizes. Lunge line and no-stirrup work are core parts of the training curriculum.  The Pacific Dressage group shows approximately once a month, with four big shows targeted every year giving everyone ample opportunity to practice and achieve success in the show ring.

New Location
Pacific Dressage recently moved to the exclusive AR3J Ranch, which is located in the Sand Canyon area of Santa Clarita. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and the prestigious Robinson Ranch Golf Course, the Ranch gives horse owners a feeling of complete serenity when riding in the arena or walking the grounds. Pacific Dressage now has its own large arena with lights and an Olympic size dressage court, and another more private smaller arena, two extra large turn-outs, a 30-meter round pen, a hot walker, hot and cold inside wash racks and three paddocks.  There is also easy access to manicured trails and the Santa Clara River trails which add up to approximately 480 miles of wilderness to be explored.
In short, Pacific Dressage offers the best of all worlds for the dedicated horse person.
