Horse people are often known to take better care of their horses than themselves. That tendency is partly responsible for the success of Rodeo Barns. “Sometimes I go up into one of our buildings and think, ‘Hey, this is nicer than my house!’” observes Joel Edmonds, co-owner of the Arlington, WA-based company.
Rodeo Barns’ beautiful timber-frame barns have filled a niche for aesthetically pleasing, highly functional stables available in designs to suit a wide range of needs. “We probably have the broadest depth of product offering out there,” Joel continues.
Every barn design comes with highly detailed plans, thanks to a staff that includes both an architect and an engineer. Rodeo Barns evolved from Rodeo Construction, which has been building barns, arenas and other structures throughout Washington State for 15 years. As a result, the Rodeo Barns team has the hands-on know-how to advise clients through every step of the barn shopping and construction phases.
In addition to detailed construction plans, all kits come with a “sequential take-off list” that makes it easy for the builder, whether it’s a contractor or the barn owner, to find the right materials at the right time. Free phone support is available through every aspect of the construction process.
The Standard Gable Barn is the company’s simplest design. It features 12’ by 12’ stalls, wash stall and tack room. Premiere designs include the Timber Frame Barn with 12’ by 14’ dimensions for the stalls and wash and tack rooms. The Monitor Style offers a raised center aisle section for additional headroom and light for those who choose windows options, while maintaining a traditional look. The Gable Style is the company’s most popular design and is often the best fit when customers want their barn to match the look of other buildings on the property. The Gable Style has the most usable space when customers opt for the full loft and shed-roof dormer.
Any degree of customization is possible on the barns, from small tweaks to standard plans to complete modifications that enable a clear span structure to keep its traditional pole-barn look. Although the barns are not marketed as living quarters, many customers have had an easy time converting them for that purpose.
Covered arenas kits, ranging from 60’ to 100’, are the newest addition to Rodeo Barns’ offerings. With its own steel fabrication shop, Rodeo Barns assures the quality and availability of its arena building materials.
With several of its barns either completed or under construction in California, the company has had plenty of experience catering to the unique functional and aesthetic demands of our state’s various regions. Rodeo Barns has dealt with everything from snowy to desert climates and even jumped through the many hoops required to build a barn along California’s coastline.
“We have a long reference list of customers,” says Joel. “I think it’s because what we offer is more than just a barn. These are grand and beautiful wood buildings that complement any property.”
