Most horse owners and avid equestrians have spent countless hours imagining their dream barn, envisaging every miniscule detail from stall designs and aisle flooring to the layout and style of fencing they want for their horses’ paddocks. For ten years, Innovative Equine Systems has been helping horse lovers turn their dreams into realities.

“What really sets Innovative Equine Systems apart is our attention to the little details,” explains owner Dennis Marion. “A lot of companies sell similar products, but it’s going that extra step that sets us apart. Everything we make is built to last and constructed with safety and convenience in mind.”
Ten years ago Dennis was already involved in the fencing business when he discovered a company in Holland that produced superior stall doors, frames and barn accessories. He began importing their products, but found that due to the demand and logistics of importation, filling customer orders was difficult.
“At the time their barns were considered some of the best in the world, and I still think they are,” says Dennis. “But we knew this was something we could do in the U.S. Providing consumers in the U.S. with quality products, with the same attention to detail as those we imported from Holland is how our business started.”

Furbishing a Barn—From the Floor to the Rafters
At their headquarters in Nevada, Innovative Equine Systems now manufactures a full line of extraordinary horse stalls, Dutch doors, exterior shutters and hard to find barn accessories that are both beautiful and functional. Some of their unique items include hold-open door magnets, mortised finger latches and rotating wash wands. They also offer a line of high quality, environmentally-friendly stall and aisle flooring made from recycled natural rubber and a unique steel fencing system for paddocks and tight containment areas.
“We try to make things that are friendly to both horses and horse-owner, as well as easy to assemble for contractors and builders -- like our Quick Rail fence system. One of the inherent problems with fencing is that horses housed in close quarters tend to be destructive. Most steel fences don’t allow you to fix rails. Our Quick Rail fence is made of powder coated steel pipe rails, held in place by our unique and removable brackets.”
Dennis says that Quick Rail fencing is just another example of how the company thinks ahead. One of Innovative Equine Systems’ goals is to build products that are not only beautiful and functional, but that will stand the test of time. To do this, they spare no expense on the quality of wood, steel and hardware they use in manufacturing.
An available option with their stalls is Brazilian redwood, a dense lumber with an A-1 fire rating similar to steel. They don’t use pre-galvanized steel, which is a dangerous chemical to welders and horses alike, but instead bead blast and powder coat their own steel. Their stalls are set on adjustable hinges instead of the barrel hinges used by most companies, so they open quietly with nothing for the horses to catch and cut themselves on.

Start with a Great Design
The list of little differences that set Innovative Equine Systems’ products apart is extensive. But Innovative Equine Systems understands that more goes into a great barn than just exceptional stalls and flooring. A great barn starts with a great design, so they don’t just furnish barns, they also plan and design facilities.
“There are only a handful of equine architects on the market,” explains Dennis. “Certainly people who are not equine architects need help with horse facilities, because it is an entirely new world.”
Innovative Equine Systems has access to licensed designers, planners and landscape architects that handle everything from barn and facility design to fencing and site planning and review. They can offer clients complete working drawings to help them visualize their new facility. They often work with other professionals - such as architectural firms, structural, civil, electrical and geotechnical engineers - either as a project lead designer or design consultant.
Whether you’re a private facility looking to build your own exceptional small barn or a trainer refurbishing a huge boarding and training operation, Innovative Equine Systems strives to help all of their clients and to live up to their motto and everything it entails -- extraordinary barn interiors and unrivaled service.
