The 2024 Western States Horse Expo taking place June 7 to 9 at the Murieta Equestrian Center in California, is set to be one to remember. Embracing everything attendees have loved about the event while adding new, immersive formats, educational elements, experiences, and fun. For almost three decades the Western States Horse Expo has celebrated the equestrian and rural lifestyle with all that they encompass, celebrating the spirit of the horse, and sharing love of equines to equestrians of all ages.

Now fully established at its new home, the Murieta Equestrian Center, one of the largest private equestrian facilities on the West Coast, the Western States Horse Expo can take full advantage of the spacious facility and arenas to present an event like no other. The Western States Horse Expo is one of the most trusted resources for innovation, inspiration, and education within the equestrian community. With ten arenas, and four marquee areas running over the three-day event, the Western States Horse Expo is bringing hundreds of clinics, seminars, and demonstrations for the attendees. One of the major additions to the event is the aptly named Immersive Arenas – where attendees can immerse themselves in their discipline for three days. There will be an arena dedicated to dressage, one-to-all things jumping, horsemanship, liberty, reining, and several sessions with a cow-based discipline focus. More specialized and unique disciplines will also be featured to expand awareness and participation, including mounted archery, working equitation, vaulting, side-saddle, and more.

In addition to mounted clinics, the Clinicians Unmounted marquee offers a great opportunity to sit down with clinicians, away from the arena and in a casual setting to gain instruction, advice, and insights and learn more about their horsemanship journey. Horse Expo University provides attendees with another educational opportunity, with learning opportunities from Equine Health professionals and industry leaders on important topics facing horse owners today, including equine biosecurity, hoof health, nutrition, preparing for natural disasters.

One of the newest additions to the event, is an area focused on the rider’s role in the saddle and equestrian journey, the Mind-Body-Spirit zone. Designed to help the rider take care of the items, both physical and mental, that may be getting in the way of riding, goals, and success in the saddle and show ring. The presenters in the Mind-Body-Spirit marquee are here with the tools, techniques, and programs to help riders be the best version of themselves for their horses.

The Young and New Rider Park is the place for young equestrians, and new horse owners, to gather up and enjoy some fun activities! Presented by the United States Pony Club, the Young and New Rider Park is a safe and fun place for anyone enthusiastic about horses, and looking for Horse 101 education sessions, and fun interactive experiences.

The Mane Event is a brand-new performance event taking place on Saturday night. This exciting, action-packed celebration of the horse features the one-and-only 36-ride drill team performance, Dan James and his six-horse liberty performance, mounted archery, the parade of breeds, musical freestyle acts, an exhilarating trick riding show, and so much more! Separate tickets must be purchased for The Mane Event, a limited number of tickets are available so be sure to buy early.

One of the most popular elements at the Western States Horse Expo is the bustling vendor marketplaces, which feature an extensive selection of equine-related products and services, allowing attendees to browse and shop for everything from tack and apparel to equine supplements and equipment. Browse the latest trailers in Rigs and Digs, or look for the latest stalls, ranch, and farm equipment in The Ranch. Whether you’re seeking the latest innovations or classic essentials, you’ll find it all here in the hundreds of vendors on site.

For equestrians looking to enjoy the beauty of the horse, the Breed Pavilion is a crowd favorite, inspiring and exhilarating attendees as different breeds of horses will be on hand to show what they can do and how versatile they can be. Meet and learn about, Friesians, Haflingers, Barock Pintos, Arabians, Gypsy Vanners, Chincoteague, Fell Ponies, and more! Following each breed demonstration, be sure to “Meet the Breed” back at the stalls. One of the highlights at this year’s Western States Horse Expo will be the opportunity to Drive a Clydesdale, under the watchful eye of their handlers.

A unique element to the Western States Horse Expo, is The American Ride Competition that brings together ten drill teams to compete against each other for the Championship. What makes The American Ride so unique is that while competing against each other, the teams also work together to create a 36-horse drill performance that will be performed at Saturday night’s Mane Event.
