Sunsprite Ranch, LLC came into fruition in 2006. Its owner, Pamela Duffy, was introduced to English riding in 1966. In 1968, she acquired her first horse, a mare named Chula, as a gift from her parents. In no time at all, Show Jumping competitions were an important part of her life. And with that, the horse “addiction” was firmly in place!
Pamela was born in Mexico City and although both of her paternal and maternal families were European, there was also a family tradition of relocation and exploration. The Duffy family, from County Donegal in Ireland, were bakers for many years. The family matriarch, Sarah, set aside some money and immigrated to California in the early 1900s. A very resilient, enterprising and independent woman, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego county for quite a few years before marrying, welcoming three children, and establishing a country store near Los Angeles.
The maternal side of Pam’s family descends from Denmark, Austria and Germany. They lived in Holland (Netherlands) for quite a few years but quickly retreated to Cuba when World War II became too dangerous. From Cuba, there was another exodus to Mexico City, primarily due to the country’s very generous immigration and refugee policies.
The family lore and background proved prophetic when it comes to the horse breeds to which Pam was drawn. Sunsprite has always been a rather eclectic collection of horses! The stables have been, and continue to be in the tradition of embracing Thoroughbreds, Anglo-Arabian bloodlines, Hanoverian, Holsteiner, Oldenburg, Dutch Warmblood (KWPN, American Dutch Warmblood which is NA/WPN) Selle Francais and Trakehners.
Throughout her life, Pam has competed in jumping (up to 1.45 meters), dressage (2nd. level) and even a ‘tiny bit’ of Three Day Eventing, while still in Mexico, at what would probably be the equivalent of Preliminary level.
Chula was bred for the first and only time while Pam attended boarding school in Massachusetts…a move encouraged by her mother with whom she didn’t always see eye-to-eye. After the foal was born, he was put under saddle by his young breeder and that was the first homebred to be produced by (at that time) a still adolescent amateur and was fortunately a deeply satisfying accomplishment.
Pamela attended a British, private school in Mexico City that she refers to as one of her truly formative experiences. It was very complementary to her curious and independent nature. In 1980, Pam left Mexico to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, a field in which she worked until 2001. In addition, Pam worked as an educational consultant, kindergarten teacher, translator, book sales and as a riding instructor.
In 2002, several very promising mares were purchased as potential broodmares. A year after that, she achieved outstanding results in breed shows and inspections/keurings. The idea that “the dream” was not as far-fetched as it once seemed.
The current objective has been in place throughout the last few years and is still being followed today. To produce sane, sound, athletic and versatile athletes that move with power and agility, as well are friendly, willing and able to hold their own in competitions.
Sunsprite horses, whether they were homebred or purchased from U.S. breeders, have done extremely well for the ‘brand”. In recent years, the suffix SRC has been used to register homebreds and stands for Sunsprite Ranch Company.

SUNSPRITE INFINITY
Infinity discovered by Pam at his stallion licensing in Germany, where he stood out with his beautiful type, excellent jump and all round sport horse ability,he quickly went onto find success in the show ring, highlighted by scoring an 8.6 and qualifying for the Bundeschampionat in 2022 In 2023 Infinity was the Trakehner Eventing Champion of the 6 yr old division at the Trakehner Bundesturnier with an impressive 8.8!! He has recently been imported to NA and will be showing later this year, we are currently preparing him for a hunter career. Infinity offers breeders top Trakehner as well as performance bloodlines through his sire the international eventer Octavio, his dam is the Verband premium/States premium mare Isette lll by E.H.Buddenbrock, he also carries the top blood of Ameigo.Infinity is a very elegant stallion, very typey. He is modern in type, and so very kind, he loves his people and attention, very willing. We have enjoyed working with him since his arrival here and think that he makes an interesting choice for a lot of mare owners, and crosses over into many disciplines. 2025 is his 1st time being offered for breeding in NA, he is standing at Dreamscape Farm.
SUNSPRITE DOMINO
Sunsprite Domino is an impressive young imported ZANGERSHEIDE stallion. Sired by the highly sought after International Grand Prix stallion Dominator Z, he carries the top jumper blood of Cornet Obolensky and Caretino in his dam line, his dam herself is also a proven competition mare to 1.40 already. A powerful modern type stallion, with beautiful expression Domino has just started his show career, he is competing in and winning in the 5 yr old jumper division in Canada with rider Ashley Arnoldt. He is showing top potential with a huge scopey jump, beautiful form, and brave rideable attitude, everything needed to excel, we look forward to this young stallion’s future success in the show ring, and also as a sire himself in the future.
