April 26 USET Fundraiser set to spring loose funds for Team USA.

A month of training in Florida with Olympian, World Cup Champion and USEF dressage technical advisor and chef d’equipe Debbie McDonald tops a growing list of auction items for an April 26 United States Equestrian Team fundraiser. It’s been a few years since the USET has had a big shindig out West and efforts are underway to make up for lost time.

The Cook family’s Pomponio Ranch in Rancho Santa Fe is the location for the fundraiser. Spring Fling is the theme, says organizing committee member Sean Caddell, a realtor and party planner extraordinaire. Farm-to-table fare from Coast Catering is on the menu, served in elegantly dressed aisles of a beautiful barn that many are familiar with from its role as the site of show jumpers Karl Cook and Kaley Cuoco’s wedding last year.

Timed to coincide with the Del Mar National Dressage Week and the Blenheim Equisports Showpark Spring Festival, Spring Fling is designed to bring together the show jumping, dressage and eventing communities. Tickets are $300 and bids for the growing list of auction items are available online for those who cannot attend in person.

Committee member and dressage trainer Patty Mayer is excited about the donations already firmed up. To enhance the already-awesome month of training with Debbie, horse boarding has been donated by TyL Dressage, Tex Sutton Horse Transportation has donated horse transport and Patty is working on housing for the rider. An opportunity to shadow USEF dressage development coach Charlotte Bredahl as she coaches will be part of the Debbie McDonald package or a separate item.

San Diego dressage trainer Marie Francesca Mendosi is donating an original piece of music for a freestyle that she will compose, perform and record. And a surfing outing with Olympian Guenter Seidel and trainer David Blake are among the confirmed donations even as Patty and her team were just getting started. Underwriters include Laura and Chris Maloney, Inneis-USA, Ad Astra Collective and Rigdon/Blake Stables.

“We are excited to have something on the West Coast for Team USA,” says Sara Ike, director of events for the USET Foundation and the national point person for the fundraiser.
