North American League surges toward September finalé in the West!

The North American League (NAL) division is heating up as the summer show season is officially in full swing.

The NAL qualifying season runs from September 1 through August 31. NAL qualifying classes are open to all competitors, but only current members are awarded points. By joining the NAL, riders can accumulate the points necessary to qualify for the West Coast Finals held at the International Jumping Festival hosted by Blenheim EquiSports in San Juan Capistrano, Sept. 18-22 and the National Finals held at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg, PA, October 10-19. Annual memberships are only $40 per rider.

West Coast Rankings


In the West Coast Adult Hunter Division, Amy Coretz of Tulsa, OK and Rise Above have moved up the rankings to tie for first place with current leader Sandra Bierman of Phoenix, AZ and Kalvert with 2,906 points. Laura Owens of San Francisco, CA, aboard Eurythmic round out the top three with 2,112 points.

There have been no changes in the West Coast Children’s Hunter leaderboard standings. Continuing to hold the lead is Tessa Downey of Houston, TX and Hoopla with 1,110 points. Peyten Seltzer of Rancho Santa Fe, CA and Que Crème move into second place with 1,054 points, and Sara Palmer of Bentonville, AR and New Dream hold third place with 690 points.

Molly Athey of Enid, OK and Gold Lux added 492 points to continue their lead in the West Coast Adult Jumper Division Presented by SmartPak with a total of 2,084 points. While Tara Brown-Stocks of Trabuco Canyon, CA and High Hopes maintain second place with 1,428 points. Mollie Hartung of Sherman Oaks, CA continue to sit in third place with a total of 1,015 points aboard Drago.

A shake up in the West Coast Children’s Jumper standings Presented by EquiFit has Emma Flett of Southlake, TX and Washington jumping into first place with 1,708 points. Division leader since January, John Gilpin of Keller, TX and Sampras, have moved into second place after not adding any points his score of 1,505 points.  Hensley Humphries of Austin, TX and Ursula D’Auge are now in third place with 1,388 points.

Hallie Grimes of Houston, TX continues to be highly competitive in the West Coast Low Junior/Amateur Jumper standings Presented by HorseFlight, holding first and third place with her two mounts Quickly Stated and Ero Del Pierire, totaling 2,362 and 1,958 points respectively. Maggie Hill of Jackson, WY and Hope sit in second place with 2,170 points.
