New Board Members, Renewed Position, and the Return of the NARG Top 25

Wellington, FL - June 4, 2019 - The North American Riders Group (NARG) is back on the show jumping scene with renewed intensity representing riders, owners, trainers and their horses, with a keen focus on improving our sport at a global level. After three meetings in 2019, the NARG Board has elected new members, submitted an updated position statement to the IJRC, and approved a proposal for the return of the NARG Top 25.

Emotional Advanced Win for Sara Sellmer & PDQ Leigh: James Alliston and Cassio’s Picasso KD top Intermediate division.

May 26, 2019. Woodside, California: Winning an Advanced division anytime is a big deal. It was even bigger for Canadian professional Sara Sellmer, who did so at the Spring Event at Woodside aboard Jill Walton’s PDQ Leigh. In 2016 at the same venue, Sara’s horse, TF Kreisler, died following an incident on the CCI*** course and Sara hadn’t been back since.

Temecula, Calif. – May 24, 2019 – Nilforushan Equisport Events’ Temecula Valley National Horse Show returned Friday for the week’s third day of riding, with the midway point highlighting the $5,000 Open Equitation Championship. The inventive class was held in the Audi Grand Prix Arena, presented by Evergate Stables, and allowed for professionals, juniors and amateurs to compete head-to-head. Demonstrating superior form and precision over fences, junior rider Emma Reichow earned the victory thanks to her exemplary skills aboard Breckenridge over two rounds of competition, besting a skilled and diverse field of contenders. Kicking off junior competition, Anna Fogarty and Be Our Guest positioned themselves as the pair to beat in the Junior 3’3” Hunter division after a series of smooth showings, and will resume Saturday as the division’s top contenders.

 
Langer Equestrian Group Hosts Two Weeks of 'A'-rated Shows at Hansen Dam Horse Park

LAKE VIEW TERRACE, Calif – Langer Equestrian Group looks forward to hosting two weeks of 'A'-rated horse showing at Hansen Dam Horse Park this month. Verdugo Hills May (May 16-19) will feature the Hansen Dam Grand Prix and a USHJA National Hunter Derby, followed by the LEG Memorial Day Classic Horse Show (May 23-26). Highlights of the Memorial Day Classic will include the 42nd annual Memorial Day Classic Grand Prix, a USHJA International Hunter Derby, and a USHJA National Hunter Derby.

May 1, 2019: The Badminton Horse Trials CCI5* starting today has only three American contenders and one of them, Tamie Smith, is a relatively new member of Haygain’s U.S. ambassador team. Her partner is the 16 year old Dutch Warmblood Wembley. He’s big, bold and opinionated and it was one of those opinions that led Tamie to Haygain Steamed Hay.

Saturday night was hot in Rancho Murieta for the $20,000 Murieta Inn & Spa Sacramento Grand Prix at Murieta Equestrian Center. The highlight event of the Sacramento Spring Classic saw 24 horse and rider combinations try their like at designer Mike Gallaway's first round course, consisting of 14 jumping efforts including three double combinations.

Devon, Pa. – May 28, 2019 – The Dixon Oval welcomed its first international show jumping competition at the 2019 Devon Horse Show and Country Fair on Tuesday evening with the $50,000 Jet Run Devon Welcome Stake CSI4*, sponsored 5R Farms LLC – Helen Rich. After making their Devon debut in 2018 with multiple top placings, the United States’ Nicole Shahinian-Simpson and Silver Raven Farms’ Akuna Mattata returned to Devon, Pennsylvania, all the way from California, to take home their first win together and the Sylvester L. Quigley Memorial Challenge Trophy at the iconic venue, besting 25 other horses and athletes.

Jamie piloted Eve Aron’s Destin De Folie (Joe Thorpe, trainer) to an impressive win in his first USHJA International Hunter Derby, successfully navigating a course by FEI Level III Course Designer Peter Grant of Calgary, Alberta.

A 1,200 square-foot on-course VIP tent adds an awesome fan experience to The Spring Event at Woodside this year, set for May 24-26 at The Horse Park at Woodside. “Super Saturday’s” VIP cross-country tent opportunity enhances an event already famous nationally as host of The Preliminary Challenge. The tent provides front row seats next to the North Water Complex with big screen TVs livestreaming action from the rest of the Ian Stark-designed international cross-country course. Plus, food, drink and fun with fellow fans.

Paso Robles Horse Park Rounds Up Two Weeks of USEF-Rated Shows

Spectators were treated to a thrilling Grand Prix culmination

The Paso Robles Horse Park rounded out its second week of United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Rated shows, April 24-28. The Paso Park Spring Classic featured a $26,000 Grand Prix, held on Saturday, April 27, and a $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby on Friday, April 26.

“The last few weeks have proven to be an inspiring performance at the Park,” said Linda Starkman, owner of the Paso Robles Horse Park. “I am so proud of our competitors and how the facility shined during these shows. The rider’s work and zeal for the sport were showcased in these successful events.”

Highlights from the Woodside Spring Preview

WOODSIDE, Calif.-- The first week of the 2019 LEG Woodside Spring Circuit kicked off with the Woodside Spring Preview (Apr. 24-28). Bert Mutch piloted Lerida to the win in the USHJA National Hunter Derby and Guy Thomas and Congotan topped the Open Welcome Stake. Meanwhile, Kelly McKnight and Zan Chin proved once again that you don't need a bridle to win the Open Speed Derby. In the grand prix, Emma Catherine Reichow and Forever Alve took home the blue ribbon after navigating a challenging course designed by Anthony D’Ambrosio. Nayel Nassar shines at the Longines Masters of New York

Longines was proud to take part in the third leg of the Longines Masters series, held in the Big Apple for the second consecutive year. On Sunday afternoon, the event went to new heights with the remarkable victory of Nayel Nassar on Lucifer V in the Longines Grand Prix. It had already started in full swing on Friday with the thrilling Longines Speed Challenge, known as the world’s fastest trial, also claimed by the Egyptian rider. During the American leg of the series, Longines highlighted a model from its HydroConquest collection, combining sporty look and traditional elegance: the Official Watch of the Longines Masters New York event.
