The last day of Menlo Charity Horse Show 2019, finished on a note of celebration as riders competed in a day of Classic events.

$1,000 Peninsula Equine Medical Center Adult Amateur Hunter Classic

Tonia Cook Looker and Deja Blue won the $1,000 Peninsula Equine Medical Center Adult Amateur Hunter Classic in great style riding against a field of 17 entries. Tonia was thrilled with the performance of her young horse. Shabnam H Behzadpour on Escher followed on her heels to take second place and Emily Goldberg on Salud took home third.

The Summer Event at Woodside, Aug. 9-11, supports and celebrates stars at all levels.

Aug. 8, 2019: The newly minted Pan Am Games team gold medalist Tamie Smith; Olympic silver medalist Gina Miles; and World Cup Finalist Jennifer Macouzet-Wooten are among the equestrian stars bound for this weekend’s Summer Event at Woodside. But a different level of riders will dominate the spotlight thanks to tremendous response for the inaugural Modified Training Challenge, the centerpiece of the Aug. 9-11 competition at The Horse Park at Woodside.

Lima, Peru - The U.S. Jumping Team has won the bronze medal at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games on Wednesday. Led by Chef d'Equipe Robert Ridland, the team of Lucy Deslauriers (New York, N.Y.) riding Hester (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Palestro Vd Begijnakker), a 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding owned by Lisa Deslauriers; Alex Granato (Wellington, Fla.) riding Carlchen W (Chacco-Blue x Continue), an 11-year-old Mecklenburg gelding owned by Page Tredennick; Eve Jobs (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) riding Venue d’Fees des Hazalles (President x Alcatraz), a 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare owned by Jobs; and Beezie Madden (Cazenovia, N.Y.) riding Breitling LS (Quintero x Acord II), Abigail Wexner’s 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion, earned a cumulative score of 23.09.

Lima, Peru – The U.S. Dressage Team posted strong performances on the final day of team competition at Lima 2019 Pan American Games, earning team silver with an overall score of 437.791 after two days of intense competition. Canada was presented with the gold medal after finishing on a 440.111, securing a coveted qualification for Tokyo 2020, alongside Brazil, who collected bronze with a score of 408.696.

“He grabbed the bit and ran!” is Lauren Billys’ description of how Castle Larchfield Purdy attacked the final uphill stretches during his most recent Advanced cross-country course. That might be expected from her 2016 Rio Olympics partner and hopeful for the 2020 Games, but instead there have been some dark months when Lauren wasn’t sure what the future held for him. He’s 17 and first had to recover from a severe colic last fall.

It was another day of international excellence at the Showpark Racing Festival FEI CSI2* when the New Zealand and the Brazilian anthems played for the winners of the Silver and Bronze Tour highlight events, as Guy Thomas and Casio Rivetti led the victory gallops. Anderson Lima (BRA) designed the tracks for the competitive classes, with thirty-six vying for the prize in the 1.45m Silver division and fifty-two riding for a top spot in the 1.35m Bronze division.

The USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Classic West, presented by Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College, brought 59 riders to vie for the equitation title at its exciting new location, Sonoma Horse Park, in the wine country of Northern California. Through two challenging rounds and a work-off of the top four riders, Violet Lindemann-Barnett riding her own Cantoblaco proved victorious. Stella Buckingham came in second on Calvatos Z, while Emily Williams was third on Beach Boy, and Breanna Bunevacz rounded out the final four riding Vondel DH Z.

Las Vegas—July 22, 2019—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association has opened entries for the AON/USHJA National Championships at The Las Vegas National CSI3*-W, Nov. 11-17, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The USHJA invites members across the country to enter for a chance to qualify for the Championships through points and classes in their zone. Entries close Sept. 13, and interested members must enter in order to be eligible for qualifying.

New USHJA Jumper Classic Series to Debut in 2020

Lexington, Ky.—July 9, 2019—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association has created the USHJA Jumper Classic Series to offer jumper riders competing at 1.10m to 1.40m fence heights additional opportunities to earn points, prize money and recognition. The series will debut in the 2020 competition year, and has no host application requirement.
