Meet Our Trainers - Part II

The Inland Empire Hunter Jumper Association (IEHJA) is supported by a number of professional trainers, barns and riding academies located throughout Southern California. Their programs range from beginners on lesson horses to riders new to the hunter/jumper show scene to dedicated show competitors chasing points at the county and higher circuit level to older adult riders enjoying the schooling process. No matter your riding level, horse owner or not, competitor or casual rider, IEHJA has a trainer for you. Whether you live in the San Bernardino Mountains, the deserts of Riverside, San Diego or Riverside counties or you call urban Orange and Los Angeles counties home, there is an IEHJA trainer near you.

Joan Romo and Jasmine Wheatley-Owners/Trainers Mountain View Farms Hunter/Jumpers

Welcome to Mountain View Farms Hunter/Jumpers North (Whitefish, Montana) Joan Romo trainer and South (Anaheim, California) Jasmine R. Wheatley trainer.

In 2017, Mountain View farms hunter/jumpers expanded from its base at the Anaheim Equestrian Center, Rancho del Rio to include training operations at the Whitefish Equestrian Center in Montana. Mercedes Hanson-Trainer BM Equine Riding Academy/Hanson Training Stables, Norco

BM Equine Riding Academy/Hanson Training Stables specializes not only in the rider’s progression but also the connection they have with the horse. BM Equine and Mercedes believe that to be a successful horseman you have to understand the horse and the technicalities that come with it. The first step in this process is to provide amazing lesson horses and all levels of instruction from beginner to show competitor. Top notch trainers, including Mercedes as the lead trainer, enhance every client’s learning experience. Children as young as 4 and all ages up to adults are welcome. Our training program focuses on developing strong hunter/jumper riders by starting with a solid foundation of flat work. Lessons are provided in a safe, fun and goal-oriented atmosphere.

Mercedes was born with the “horse crazy” bug and started riding at 5. She owned her first horse at 10 and soon started her competitive horse show career. From her early trainers she learned the skills, safety protocols and proper horse care that she uses today in her own training program. Mercedes honed her riding skills competing with the CSUF IHSA team from 2007-2011. With the experience of riding in college she fell in love with the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association), which provides horses and a competitive outlet for athletes. Mercedes transitioned from her role of rider to coach by coaching both at CSUF and Claremont Colleges.

You can contact Mercedes at BM Equine Riding academy/Hanson Training Stables at 562-552-1103, 3770 Pedley, Norco.
