KWPN’s great bloodlines maximized by a great start in life: Introducing Koning DG.

DG Bar Ranch, in Hanford, is located in the heart of California’s agricultural region. It is a family owned and operated horse facility that was opened in 1985 by Tony and Betty De Groot. DG Bar Ranch specializes in breeding, raising, training, and selling dressage horses.  We invest much of our time creating a solid foundation in our young horses so they can be successful in their future careers.

At DG Bar there are about 10 foals raised every year. The mares that produce these foals come out of the best proven mare lines and they are matched with stallions available through fresh and frozen semen. We put a lot of emphasis on having a good mare line because the mare has the most influence on producing top-quality foals. Our mares have proven themselves through their show careers or through a mare performance test, which is held during the KWPN Keuring tour.

DG Bar has produced many horses for the dressage competition arena for both amateur and professional riders. We really enjoy watching our horses compete and become successful with their owners and riders. DG Bar has established fantastic clientele all over the United States and Canada, and we are very grateful for their support.

Over the past years, DG Bar has been honored to compete in many Markel/USEF Young Horse Championships, and had two of our homebred horses qualify for the World Championships in Verden. We really enjoy developing young horses through this young horse program and hope to continue to do this for years to come.

This year we are very excited to be presenting our newest stallion, Koning DG.  Koning DG is by Bordeaux x Jazz x Junior. Koning DG’s dam, Darcy CL, comes from a mare line with a phenomenal dressage career, and Darcy herself was the highest scoring mare in the Pavo Cup as a 4-Year-Old, and then went on to become the reserve champion 5-year-old at the USEF Young Horse Championships.

Koning DG scored a remarkable 85.5 in his IBOP (under saddle performance test) and DG Bar Cup at the KWPN Keuring. We are very pleased to offer this new young stallion for breeding this year. With his spectacular gaits, rideability, character, and bloodlines, he is a great stallion selection for a variety of mares.
