We get around!

Between Jan. 19 and Feb. 19 we’ve covered the California Dressage Society convention in San Diego, Horse Expo Pomona, the HITS Coachella (Thermal) World Cup weekend in the desert and the Area VI Awards Banquet and Annual Meeting at the Fresno County Horse Park. We experienced every kind of California weather during that time! Throughout our travels, we realized the good fortune to have a career that enables us to report on and spend time with some of the best people anywhere. Their horses are awesome, too!

We hope you enjoy this month’s mix of coverage, highlighted by our regular columnists’ insights on several subjects: Karen Healey ponders whether the stricter medication rules will curtail cheaters in the hunter/jumper sport. Genay Vaughn talks about the pros, cons and realities of a season on the Florida dressage circuit. And, Lauren Billys explains why she had to give up her childhood habit of riding in oversize boxer shorts. They just don’t cut it for the Olympic eventer!

Thanks for your story ideas and photo submissions and we’ll see you on the circuit soon!

Happy Riding!

Royal Brigade is a gorgeous registered Saddlebred gelding up for adoption at FalconRidge Equine Rescue in northern San Diego County.

He stands 16 hands tall and is 11 years old.

He originally came from a breeder and has had one private owner.

Greenbroke only, but currently in training and doing walk, trot and canter under saddle like a dream.

Healthy and sound, this handsome boy just needs additional training and would love to bond with his human for life! Very cute boy.
