Reilly Cunningham Logs College Prep Victory

The College Preparatory Invitational exceeded expectations as a sold-out group of 160 exceptional student riders from grades 8 to12 traveled from as far away as Hawaii to participate at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in Palm Beach, FL. Reilly Cunningham made the most of her trip from San Diego County’s Valley Center by riding to the high point title in the Open division.

The CPI weekend was packed with activities including a mounted clinic; a horsemanship practicum, educational lectures, a College Fair and an IHSA style horse show judged by the legendary Kip Rosenthal.

“The CPI horse show was a great experience for me because it exposed me to a lot of potential colleges with great equestrian programs,” reports Reilly, who rides with DVG Show Stables at Blue Fox Farm in Encinitas. “In terms of riding, it was a fun and helpful experience because we got to ride unfamiliar horses and learn lots of new things from each of them. Overall it was a really cool event and I highly recommend going if you want to continue riding in college!”

US Equestrian Stars

West Coasters received well-deserved honors at the USEF Pegasus Awards Dinner, held during the US Equestrian Annual Meeting in Lexington, KY, last month. Far West Farms’ Jenny Karazissis won the Emerson Burr Trophy. And DG Bar Ranch’s beloved Willy Arts was given the Ellen Scripps Davis Memorial Breeders Awawrd.
