Young Horse Show Series
July 19 in Solvang

Pollyrich Farm hosts an edition of Spy Coast Farm-sponsored Young Horse Show Series, with qualifiers open to horses 1 through 5 and schooling available for those up to 7.

The Young Horse Show Series is designed to provide sporthorse breeders as well as owners, trainers and riders of all disciplines an affordable show venue to introduce and evaluate their young horses to the show environment and “put on necessary mileage” with appropriate and special classes suitable to the proper development of young horses.  It is also intended to create a sales environment where numerous young horses are in a single location and their talents displayed in front of a buying audience.

Created in 2009 by Jean-Yves Tola and with the help of the North American Studbook directors and professionals of the sporthorse industry, the first “test” show took place at Spy Coast Farm in 2010.

Hansen Dam Summer Junction
August 10 in Lake View Terrace

This one-of-a-kind experience at Hansen Dam Horse Park invites riders of all disciplines to practice at a top-notch facility in a horse show environment. There will be opportunities for horses and riders to practice their own discipline and perhaps try something new.

The HDHP Grand Prix Arena, featuring geotextile footing, will be set with a jumper course and some hunter derby jumps. Participants can gallop out of the ring into the large warm-up ring and practice some eventing-style cross country jumps. Fence heights will start low and increase during the day. Another option is to ride in the dressage court and practice any number of tests, including Western Dressage. Feedback on the test will be provided from a licensed dressage judge. Those who want to try reining and get some tips can book a session with Tom and Daphne Foran of Foran Performance Horses. There will be a limited number of horses available for “newbies” to try out reining.

Sign up ahead of time to ensure a spot in the Junction of great riding activities.

Plus, enjoy snacks and shopping at the vendors joining the Junction. Sign-up ahead of time for a photo package with our official photographer and make special memories out of the day. You don’t want to miss out on this affordable experience to practice and have fun!
