What's Happening... California Riding Magazine Event Calendar

Lynn Fuller Fundraisers • Sat. Feb. 7 in Ramona and ongoing online Give Forward Fundraiser

The equestrian community is rallying around Lynn Fuller, a long-time friend to many and employee of Rodrigo Vazquez at Equine Surgical Services in Rancho Santa Fe. According to various reports, Lynn was set on fire in bed by her boyfriend of 25 years. It happened the morning of Dec. 28, 2014.

Lynn had third degree burns over 75 percent of her body, is in a drug-induced coma for an indefinite period of time and is in critical condition. She is expected to survive but it will be a long journey to full recovery. She has no health insurance. She lives with her sister Rhonda and niece Olivia. Neither of them was injured, however the house burned down and they lost everything.

Lynn, Rhonda and Olivia need help with medical bills and rebuilding their shattered life.

“Lynn is one of the most vivacious, sweet and happy people I have ever had the blessing of knowing.,” commented one fundraiser organizer.

Two fundraisers are in motion to help Lynn and her family. At press time, $60,000 had been raised in online donations through a GiveForward.com page in the name of Lynn Fuller and Family Recovery.

A Feb. 7 Benefit Trail Ride is also taking place at Pamo Ranch in Ramona. It’s a beautiful ranch on Pamo Road, near the Ramona landfill. Check-in time is 10 a.m. and the day includes a silent auction that is already full of great horsey products, gifts and gift certificates. Kaminski’s Sport Lounge & BBQ will be on site, with some of their yummy food sales proceeds going to the cause.

Ride fees are a $20 donation for adults and $10 for kids 13 and under. To sign up and get more information, go to Facebook and enter Benefit Trail Ride & Silent Auction for Lynn Fuller and Family.

Our very best wishes to Lynn and her family.

Mid-Winter Dressage • Feb. 20-22 in Burbank

The first of two West Coast World Cup Finals qualifiers for dressage will take place at the Mid-Winter Dressage CDI at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. In addition to elite horse/rider pairs seeking a spot in the Las Vegas World Cup Final in April, the show offers qualifiers for several other championships: Young Rider, Junior, Under-25, Young Horse and Developing Horse among them.  Enjoying its second year under the new California Dreaming Productions management partnership, the show is expected to be as fun for fans as it is for riders.
