Kasey Perry’s Florida Feats

Kasey Perry and Goerklingaards Dublet (Diamond Hit x La Costa/Olympic Ferro) braved pouring rain and Dublet’s inexperience to win both of their Grand Prix classes with a 74.8 percent and 71.5 percent in the Palm Beach Derby National Show in Florida in early March.

As of mid-March, Kasey and Dublet, owned by Diane Perry, were ranked seventh in the Pan American Games Small Tour Ranking List. However, the week of February 12, Kasey showed the big bay 12 year old Danish gelding in his first Grand Prix to win against eight competitors with a 69.3%.

At the Global Dressage Festival 3 CDI-W, the pair won the Intermediaire Freestyle and finished second out of 48 horses at Prix St. Georges.

“He went through our second Grand Prix with ease and happiness,” says Kasey. “We are still working on his straightness in the piaffe and passage, but that was our only weak area. His canter pirouettes were beautiful, along with his 2’s and 1’s. The next day he was very tired. Grand Prix two days in a row was a lot for him. But he was quiet and worked with me through the test. I am so proud of him.”

Kasey and Dublet also brought home The Horse Of Course High Score Award.

From the Sacramento area’s Orangevale, Kasey is also competing in the 2015 Global Dressage Festival with Diane Perry’s Grand Prix mare Trøstruplund’s Scarlet. She has been a participant in the invitational USEF Observation Clinics with Robert Dover, U.S. Dressage Technical Advisor/Chef d’Equipe for emerging athletes, with USEF Developing Dressage Coach Debbie McDonald, and with Scarlet is on the USEF Dressage Grand Prix Long List.
