Show season is in full swing and we are lucky to have the World Cup Finals back in Las Vegas this month. I’m looking forward to cheering on the U.S. riders, getting photos, passing out copies of this issue and the 2015 California Horseman’s Directory at this amazing event.

Dressage gets a special emphasis this issue with features on Charlotte Jorst, Michelle Reilly and California Dreaming Productions latest excellent event in San Juan Capistrano, where Steffen Peters and Legolas 92 nailed down their World Cup Finals berth. Meanwhile, talented young jumper rider Sydney Callaway did a terrific job with her in-depth profile on Will Simpson, who won nine Grand Prix during the eight-week HITS Thermal circuit, and we’ve got a photo spread from the AIG $1 Million class that closed the series. We’re very happy to share the work of dressage enthusiast Lori Savit and the Laguna Beach Horse Lovers, who are off to a galloping start in their mission to share the sport with more people.

I really miss being an amateur hunter rider, but I am having fun helping my good friend Ronnette Leja teaching lower level dressage, basic riding and jumping. It is very rewarding to help riders get better and see their huge smiles when they succeed. I’m also having fun with my foster horse Joey - aka “Marquis” from FalconRidge Rescue. He is certainly a sweet horse and is coming along nicely. After he is further along in his training, I will be looking to adopt him to the right person and then go get another one. Saving one rescue horse at a time is my new mission along with bringing all of you the latest California horse news every month.

Happy Riding!
