Beautiful Tennessee Walking Horse mare, registered name Spotless in Seattle, barn name Scarlett Ohara, is available for adoption from FalconRidge Equine Rescue in Valley Center (N. San Diego County). Scarlett is 19 yrs young (horses live to over 30 now) and loves to go out on trail alone and camping! Owner had to downsize and moving so she was donated to help raise funds for the rescue. Adoption fee is $500. Forward moving, not for a novice, needs at least an intermediate rider. Scarlett is papered and gorgeous, flaxen mane and tail, healthy and sound. 15.3 hands. www.falconridgerescue.org, contact Nicki Branch at 760-742-0285.

School’s back in session and so are we with a focus on equestrian oriented education. There’s must-reads for anyone thinking of riding opportunities in college and a fun feature on the fabulous Stanford Red Barn Equestrian Center. Top West Coast photographers “hit us with their best shot,” and we have great recaps of the Special Olympics Equestrian action, Giant Steps Charity Show and CPHA Medal Finals.

We’re thrilled to have more young riders contributing. This month, show jumper Sydney Callaway reports on lessons learned from Grand Prix dressage trainer Michelle Reilly, Area VI eventer Madi Holtzman reports on her NAJYRC experience and Erin Fry shares insights about being an NCEA athlete at the University of South Carolina.

Please let us know if you need magazines shipped to your barn or event. We have a new page on our website where you can check to see where we ship our magazine. We are trying to get to as many horse shows as possible and hand deliver magazines to everyone at the horse shows.

Next month I am having surgery to remove four plus liters of lymphedema sludge out of my leg by Dr. Jay Granzow. Thanks to everyone who has donated to my GoFundMe site to help me – www.gofundme.com/8ewey0. If you would like to help all lymphedema sufferers please send a letter to your congressman via the Lymphedema Treatment Act website – http://lymphedematreatmentact.org. Also thank you to Elizabeth Johnson who is donating all the proceeds to dressage show organizer Lisa Blaufuss and me to help us with our medical costs - see page 88 for more information.

Happy Riding!
