Hyperbaric oxygen therapy unit, for horses, on-site at HITS Thermal.

As the title sponsor of its veterinary building at HITS Desert Horse Park during the 2016 HITS Thermal Desert Circuit, Mobile Equine Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy will have its HBOT unit on site throughout the eight-week hunter/jumper series that starts Jan. 19.

The MEHOT veterinary building will house the official show veterinarians from East-West Equine Sports Medicine for the eight-week show season. East-West Equine Sports Medicine will be led by Dr. Duncan Peters, Dr. Lori Bidwell and Dr. Jillian Mills.

HBOT can expedite healing and return horses to optimal health and performance, whether treating minor or more significant injuries or simply to promote recovery from competition or training.

“MEHOT’s air-pressured hyperbaric chamber is the only one of its kind in the United States,” says Dr. Kelly Victory, a partner at MEHOT. “Our primary focus is to provide state-of the-art treatment with the latest technology and industry leading safety features to ensure patients have access to the highest quality of care possible.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide this simple, safe and highly effective treatment modality to the competitors at the Desert Circuit veterinary clinic and to partner with Drs. Peters, Bidwell, Mills and the East-West Equine Sports Medicine team at such a prestigious event as the HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal.”

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an adjunctive therapy that delivers a high concentration of oxygen in a pressurized environment. This therapy has been used for decades in human medicine with remarkable results, and more recently has been made available for animals. HBOT offers distinct therapeutic benefits, promotes rapid healing from numerous ailments, and aids in recovery from training and competition. This therapy is beneficial for both high-performance equine athletes as well as pleasure horses.
