The Greater San Diego Hunter Jumper Association year-end show another big success.

Greater San Diego Hunter Jumper Association members are dedicated to their sport and take their show season seriously. Most of the riders show all year long working towards accumulating year-end points and earning double points at the annual Championship show. Championship jackets and reserve champion show pads are highly coveted rewards.








Staged at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Oct. 3-9, the Championship included a lot of fun outside the ring with a best tack room contest, pizza parties and ice cream socials and the hunt team class is always a big hit.

1.    Quinn Ferreira on Jen and Laura Hannink’s mare Florance won all four rounds of the the Children’s Jumpers and Modified Jr/Am Jumpers and placed Reserve Champion in the 3’ Mini Prix. Quinn finished second in the year-end in both her divisions and third for overall Jr/Am rider for the year and rides with Emily Esau’s barn.
2.    Julia Rossow had a great show. She won both the GSDHJA Jr/Am Medal Final and the GSDHJA Medal Final and placed second in the Flat Medal on her horse Likewise. She also was champion in the Jr/Am Working Hunter Classic, the Jr/Am Working Hunter Under Saddle, the Equitation Over Fences 18 & Over and the Open Equitation 18 & Over. Julia rides with Leslie Pinkerton Nelson.
3.    Kelli Digiola-Bautista and Intuition took home the Championship jacket in the Working Hunter Classic and also earned top professional rider for the year for the GSDHJA.
4.    Emily Roberts, winner of the GSDHJA Green Rider Medal Finals and Champion in the Low Children’s 12 & Under Hunter Classic. Emily showed Maijor and rides with Lisa Halterman’s Haven Farm.
5.    Alexus Willson and Vidar Champion in the 4’ Open Jumpers and Reserve in both 3’6” Open Jumpers. Alexus won the top Jr/Am rider for the season and rides for Jennifer and Chris Willson’s CJ Ranches.
6.    Skylar Wireman, 11, topped a huge field of 76 riders, many a lot older and with a lot more miles in the saddle, to win the Jean McGinnis Open Equitation Challenge. She also was Champion in the Small and Medium Pony Hunter Classic on Top Gun.
7.    Nicole Leonard, who rides with Leah Von Henkle, won her Open Equitation Flat 14-17 and the GSDHJA Flat Medal.
