Ransome Rombauer continued her ascent in the equitation and jumping rings with a victory in the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals West. They were held during the International Jumping Festival at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park, Sept. 18-19, in San Juan Capistrano.

The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is far from the only beneficiary of the Portuguese Bend National Horse Show. Designated a “heritage” show by the United States Equestrian Federation, the PBNHS celebrated its 58th year, Sept. 4-6 in the Los Angeles area’s Rolling Hills Estates.
It blends top regional competition with genuine community appeal and involvement, including an army of cheerful volunteers all clad in blue and white checked shirts.

Debut event at Epona Farms sees Steffen Peters and Legolas 92 top 81%.
“Spectacular” seemed to be the word of the weekend, recounting the first ever International CDI-W, held at Michael Fowler’s Epona Farms in Thousand Oaks. Highlighting the excitement was Steffen Peters’ winning score of 81.325% in the Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd.

Medal Finals season kicked off during the Blenheim Summer Classic, Aug. 13-16, with the California Professional Horsemen’s Association (CPHA) Junior and Amateur Hunt Seat Medal Finals. Judged by John Roper, Tony Sgarlata, and Scott Hofstetter, the three round competition ended with flair in the indoor ring adjacent to the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano.

Hope Glynn Rides Carson to a long deserved blue at the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and Jenny Karazissis Earns Fifth Consecutive Win at the $2,500 National Hunter Derby

In its sixth year the Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby Weekend became its best year yet. Over 100 horse and rider combinations participated in the Weekend of Equestrian Excellence including two United States Equestrian Team members and multiple top hunter professionals. Held June 27-28 at the Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility in Carson City, NV, the Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby continues to be the only stand-alone hunter derby on the West Coast. It has become an important stop on many rider’s schedule due to the competition, vacation style relaxed atmosphere for horses and riders, and quality event. Many of the equestrians have been a part of the derby since the beginning, including 2015 International winner Hope Glynn and National winner Jenny Karazissis.
