Educational opportunity to Del Mar Horsepark Oct. 24-25. The clinic is one of the ways that a trainer can apply to become either a USHJA Certified or Provisional Trainer. Certified Trainers represent the majority of working trainers in the USHJA. They are hunter/jumper professionals who have been teaching/training for a minimum of three out of the last seven years and who teach/train all levels of riding. Their training proficiency ranges from local to international competition, emphasizing basic skills, horsemanship and safety.Provisional Trainers have completed the same requirements as Certified Trainers but have worked as hunter/jumper trainers for at least one year but fewer than three years. A Provisional Trainer will have the opportunity to become a Certified Trainer after he has worked as a full-time professional trainer for at least three years. Julie Winkle and Geoff Teall will teach the clinic and it’s open to everyone. Monday will be hunters and equitation with four groups of riders; under 2’6”, 2’6” to 2’9”, 3’0 and above hunters and 3’0 and above equitation. Tuesday will be jumpers and equitation also with four groups; under 3’0, 3’0 to 3’3, 3’6 to 3’9 jumpers, and 4’0 and above jumpers. TCP Application Process Submit TCP application, application fee, and supporting documents to the USHJA office. Supporting documents:
The TCP Committee meets three times per year to review applications. Upon approval, applicant must remit the $225 exam/certification fee. Applicant will receive an email containing the exam log-in code once USHJA has received the exam/certification fee. Applicant has two log-in attempts to pass the online exam with a score of 85% or higher within six months of the date the exam email was sent. Passing the exam grants certification and prompts the trainer’s name, location and resume to be posted on USHJA’s online Certified Trainers Directory. The Certified Trainer will receive a certificate of TCP Certification in the mail within two to three weeks of becoming certified.
